History has repeated itself many times in Roger Federer's career, but not on Wednesday.
Just one year after being knocked out during his opening-round match in Paris against Frenchman Julien Benneteau, the 16-time Grand Slam champion won his opener convincingly on Wednesday at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris, defeating Richard Gasquet 6-4, 6-4 in a little over an hour.
Federer is riding a hot streak, and is coming off two straight ATP titles -- one in Stockholm and also his hometown tournament in Basel last week -- as he gears up for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London. His win over Gasquet is his 10th straight win on tour.
