All right , chuckles. Before you go into a turkey coma, finish off the cranberry-sweet potato quiche and clean up the residue from that four-hour winnerless game of Monopoly your 13-year-old nephew suckered you into, let's get ready to pick some football games on this, the last full weekend of the Big Ten Conference as we've always known it."Always," in this case, meaning "since 1993."
Right. The games.
Iowa at Minnesota
It's a week of firsts and lasts in the battle for the pig of bronze. This is the first time the game's been played outdoors in Minnesota since 1981, and the last time this rivalry will close the season. Next year, the Minnesota-Wisconsin and Iowa-Nebraska games replace it. This is Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber's final game. He is one of the few Gophers with a memory of beating the Hawkeyes. (Minnesota's last win over Iowa was in 2006, Weber's redshirt year). Weber has had a fantastic career but it's all been swallowed up by futility. This is the last game for interim head coach Jeff Horton, unless the next Gophers coach decides to retain him. It's also Minnesota's last chance to win back-to-back conference games in the Brewster era, something that has only happened once.
