It was a one-sided beating in which Rios simply shook off Lowther's punches, while battering Lowther with powerful, crisp punches of his own. Lowther's corner probably should have stopped the fight after the fourth round, and it was wise of the referee to stop it during the fifth before Lowther was badly hurt.
Rios, a training partner of Margarito's, took the fight on short notice and came in out of shape and overweight, but that didn't matter: He's just a much better boxer than Lowther, and this fight wasn't particularly competitive.
The win improved Rios's pro boxing record to 26-0-1, with 19 wins by knockout. Lowther falls to 14-3.
