The deal is worth a total of $15 million, including the $5.3 million posting fee the Twins put up for the right to negotiate with the Chiba Lotte Marines infielder. He is in Minnesota for a physical Thursday.
Nishioka, 26, won the batting title (.346) and a Gold Glove in Japan's Pacific League last season. The Twins won the posting rights to him Nov. 26 and had 30 days to complete an agreement.
Reaching an agreement isn't a given. The A's failed to reach a deal earlier this offseason with pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma after winning the right to negotiate with him.
