Few hockey players from Revelstoke, B.C., make it to the NHL. But Aaron Volpatti is one of the exceptions. Now, it's just a question of how long the Ivy Leaguer with a mean streak will stick with the Vancouver Canucks. The 25-year-old rookie winger made his NHL debut Saturday as the Canucks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1.
"It's obviously a dream come true playing on Hockey Night in Canada in my home province," said Volpatti. "I'm going to try to relax and play my game and play hard and just kind of hang out and have some fun."
Andrew Kozek, an Atlanta Thrashers farmhand who was born in nearby Sicamous, is another Revelstoke-area product who has reached the pros. One of the few to see NHL action was Bruce Holloway, who played all of two games with the Canucks in 1984-85.
