With self-confidence rarely in short supply, Andy Murray has always come across as a young man who knows his mind - but his decision to stick with his current coaching setup for the first half of next year suggests otherwise. The world No. 4 has confirmed he will retain the services of Alex Corretja for the first half of 2011, with the 23-year-old also continuing to be assisted by long-time friend and occasional doubles partner Dani Vallverdu, who he met when they were both at the Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy in Barcelona as juniors.
A statement from Murray read: "Andy has taken time out from his busy pre-season fitness training to confirm that the current coaching setup, with both Alex Corretja and Dani Vallverdu, will continue into the first half of next year.
"The guys are busy planning their tournament schedule for the early part of 2011 and are, as a team, very focused on preparing in the best possible way for each tournament."
Disappointingly, it's a move that strikes of short-termism.
Repeatedly, Murray has insisted he won't be rushed into appointing a successor to Miles Maclagan, who he sacked in July following a difference of opinion over Corretja's input.
