Adam and fellow debutant Conor Coady came on as two of 11 second-half substitutes, with the latter scoring Liverpool's third goal. Christian Poulsen, David Ngog and Andy Carroll scored the others.
Manager Kenny Dalglish said: "It was good to see Conor score his first goal and for Charlie to make his debut. To score four goals is obviously a bonus but it's only our first game and there's lots of work still to do."
Liverpool were 4-1 up at the end of 90 minutes, but Guangdong scored twice in injury time.
Wenger gives reserves a chance in Malaysia
Carl Jenkinson and Ryo Miyaichi were handed their first Arsenal starts as Arsene Wenger's men cruised to a 4-0 pre-season win over a Malaysian XI in Kuala Lumpur.
Right-back Jenkinson, 19, joined last month from Charlton, while Miyaichi, a striker, spent the second half of last season on loan at Feyenoord having signed in January.
Wenger said: "Ryo has been a fantastic surprise to us. He did well at Feyenoord after basically coming from school football. He is a very exciting prospect because he is quick and has a quick brain.
He added: "Jenkinson is an interesting buy. We bought him from Charlton and hopefully he will push Bacary Sagna."
Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott scored in the first half, before Carlos Vela and Tomas Rosicky added two more after the break.
Chelsea consider Chiek Tiote as Essien replacement
Chelsea are mulling over a bid for Newcastle's Ivory Coast midfielder Chiek Tiote, in case their loan move for Scott Parker falls through.
The Blues have approached West Ham to see if they can secure old-boy Parker on a season-long loan, owing to Michael Essien's absence until February at least.
But they have earmarked £15 million-rated Tiote, who signed a new six-season contract at Newcastle last February, as a potential candidate - and at 25 years old, Tiote represents a long-term investment for the side, as opposed to Parker. Newcastle denied on Wednesday that any approach had been made
Hargreaves interests Leicester manager
Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson claims he would like to sign former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves - if he can prove his fitness.
Hargreaves was released from Old Trafford at the end of last season and had posted a video on YouTube to show potential suitors that his injury worries were behind him.
And Eriksson, who has overseen a mass recruitment drive to the east Midlands club this summer, revealed he has spoken to the player's agent but said: "It depends totally on Owen, the ball is in his court.
"I don't know if he is fit and I don't even know if he wants to play. If he wants to speak to us, we are more than willing. I have always said that a fit Owen Hargreaves is a great player."
Ranger denied US visa
Newcastle striker Nile Ranger has become the second member of the squad to be denied a US visa for their pre-season tour.
Ranger, 20, who has a conviction for robbery, will join Joey Barton in travelling to Holland with the reserve squad. Barton was turned down entry for his 2008 assault conviction.
