Corinthians Link Offers Ideal Solution for Both Carlos Tevez and Man City

Carlos Tevez, Corinthians, Tigres UNAL, March 22, 2006Another day, another club linked with a move for Manchester City's wantaway striker Carlos Tevez.

Yet this time, with Brazilian side Corinthians having reportedly tabled a £35 million bid for the player, it appears there is the possibility of striking a deal that will suit both Tevez and his current employers.

According to the Daily Mail
, Corinthians hope to break the South American transfer record by bringing back a player who first played for the club seven years ago.

And for Manchester City, it's now make your mind up time.

The Premier League club has been holding out for £50 million and have claimed they won't part company with their unsettled captain for anything less.

But with only limited interest in the striker, whose current contract is believed to be worth up to £220,000 per week, they may have to cut their losses and decide to sell the Argentinian favourite once and for all.

Tevez's advisor Kia Joorabchian told the Daily Mail: "Negotiations have already begun. Corinthians are in contact with us.

"His dream and mine is to see him back with Corinthians.

"He said he has a job that does not end there, he wants to return because he has the dream of winning the Copa Libertadores.

"Corinthians have made the offer, now it depends only on Manchester City. City has to make a decision.

"Everybody is working to make this happen. It is impossible to determine the situation, but I think it's close."

The ball is certainly back in Manchester City's court - and they must now decide whether to finally ready to give up the game and let go of their prize asset once and for all.

Having lost patience with his demands and outbursts, Roberto Mancini could do worse than sanction the move and avoid any further potential dressing room unrest ahead of a big season.

A further selling point is that the Manchester City manager won't have the prospect of offloading Tevez to a rival side - whether it be in the Premier League or the Champions League.

By granting him that wish, Mancini can finally move on and step up their chase for his replacement.

And as far as Tevez is concerned, this is the escape route he could only have dreamed of.

It appeared Italy or Spain would be his likely destination, while he was even ready to lower his sights to consider alternative moves on the continent such was his desperate desire to leave Manchester.

But a return to Corinthians, who have the funds to complete the move from TV rights and a shirt sponsorship, would certainly tick all the boxes for the 27-year-old.

For a homesick Tevez, despite likely to have to take a pay cut on his hefty salary, moving closer to his young family has always been him his top priority.

The Brazilian transfer deadline closes in 10 days and Manchester City could yet play hardball and demand more money given the bid is below their asking price.

But that would be a dangerous game - and one that could backfire if they are not careful.

And given they would finally have a disgruntled player off their books, who would be playing in another continent, they would be well-advised to give the offer from Corinthians serious consideration.
