Samuel Eto'o Is Ready to Try His Luck with the Premier League Big Boys

Samuel Eto'oThe transfer window is proving a slow-burner so far this summer but Samuel Eto'o has done his best to kick life into the Premier League's super spenders by revealing he would welcome a move to the land of cash and controversy.

Eto'o has provided what has been a moribund month with a welcome and timely boost after admitting in the Daily Mirror he is ready to leave Inter Milan and try his luck elsewhere.

His astronomical wages - an estimated £185,000 a week - mean that surely only the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs would be able to complete such a lavish deal but Eto'o's reputation remains solid across Europe.

Despite failing to impress with Cameroon at last year's disastrous World Cup campaign, the striker still managed 37 goals against the infamously stingy and ultra-cautious defences in Serie A.

At 30 he also remains at an age where there will be plenty left to offer for a big club looking for a proven front man - but which Premier League club would be prepared to take the plunge?

"I've had many offers and I now have a month to think about what I have to do," he said. "At 30, the next contract will be my last big one and so I have to decide if I want to stay at Inter or not.

"Playing in England is an idea I have had for some time and what matters to me is finding a good team."

His quotes would suggest that Eto'o is after one final pay day before he brings down the curtain on what has been a glittering playing career - but he has also insisted it will be about the challenge rather than the cash.

But even if Eto'o was to complete a move to England, the question has to be asked as to what sort of impact he would make?

Players with excellent reputations in world football have struggled to impress in this unforgiving division - you only need to picture Robinho looking disinterested and disillusioned as he proved such a colossal flop at Eastlands.
