World No. 4 Murray fought back from a set down to win 4-6 6-3 6-0 6-0 under the Centre Court roof on a rain-affected first day at the All England Club.

With play on all of the other courts halted by the weather conditions, Murray benefited from avoiding his match running into a second day, however he must wait to discover his second-round opponent.

There was little to choose between the pair until the ninth game when Murray faced three break points on his own serve and, after saving two, he failed to save a third when he sent a forehand wide into the tramlines.

An overhead smash from Murray in game two of the second set enabled him to set up his first break point of the match but he was unable to keep in a strong return from the Spaniard, who duly held to make it 1-1.

The Scot had to wait until the eighth game for his next opportunity and, after two opportunities went begging, he made it third time lucky when Gimeno-Traver went long with a forehand to hand Murray a 5-3 lead.
Buoyed by his first break of the match, the fourth seed quickly wrapped up the set to level the match and he maintained his momentum into the third when he broke immediately.
