Former NABF and NABO middleweight (160 pounds) champion Daniel Jacobs of Brooklyn scored Saturday night's fifth-round knockout over Jesse Orta at the Pepsi Colesium in Quebec City, Canada.
In victory, the 23-year-old Jacobs rose to 21-0, with his 18th knockout, this, after, himself, having been stopped in the fifth-round of an HBO televised, July loss to Dmitry Pirog (17-0, 14 KOs) of Russia during his failed bid to earn the vacant WBO belt at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
A resident of Dallas, Tex., Orta (7-14-2, four KOs) was stopped for the first time in his career. Orta and Jacobs each weighed in at 164.5 pounds for their bout.
