Ferguson, like the rest of the Premier League, expressed admiration in the manner that Moyes had managed to get the likes of Jack Rodwell, Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines on extended deals designed to scare off any potential suitors.
And it is a policy that Ferguson is rigorously adopting himself after both the Daily Telegraph and Independent report that Javier Hernandez is in line for a new Manchester United deal.
Just a day after Chris Smalling was offered a long term contract, it would seem that Hernandez is the next man that Ferguson wishes to handcuff to the Old Trafford gates for the foreseeable future.
And it is not hard to see why, as 25 goals in 40 matches in a debut season in England is a simply astonishing return for a man who only cost around £7 million.
His work rate, ability in front of goal and stunning partnership with Wayne Rooney gave United an extra dimension last season - and certainly a dimension that Dimitar Berbatov has consistently failed to provide.
Berbatov cost United over three times what "Chicharito" did but has never appeared to have the same burning urge to win and succeed as the 23-year-old Mexican.
He plays with a freshness and is entirely unhibited on the pitch and Ferguson is doing the right thing in trying to get him signed up to United on a five-year deal.
That will keep the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona away because any escape clause is likely to cost them a fortune and the swiftness with which Ferguson has move underlines how important and integral he believes Hernandez will be in securing long-term success for United.
In addition to that, the move also underlines that Ferguson is also still the master of spotting new talent and then giving it the freedom to grow.
With almost £80 million burning a hole in his pocket following the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in 2009, many United fans have been demanding a marquee signing for the past two years.
Eyebrows - and heckles - were raised then last summer when a small unknown Mexican player arrived from hometown club Guadalajara but Ferguson kept his own counsel and look how Hernandez has repaid him and look at how Ferguson has again shown that he is the best.
Nobody laughed louder than Manchester City fans last summer when they saw the desultory fee being paid for a "nobody" while they threw cash around like confetti.
But with Carlos Tevez on his way out of the Etihad Stadium what would City, or any other Premier League club for that matter, give to have Hernandez on their books?
