Early on Friday, it appeared Rodriguez would pull out of the event rather than fight scheduled opponent Karl Knothe, who outweighed him by 26 pounds at weigh-ins. The UFC and Bellator veteran believed he was contracted for a 230-pound catchweight fight, while Knothe believed it was to be contested at heavyweight.
Instead of withdrawing completely from the event as he originally planned, Rodriguez accepted a fight with an undercard fighter, according to the promotion.

The opponent will be Doug Williams, a 230-pounder who is 5-12 and has not fought in over a year.
In his last fight back in May 2010, Williams lost to Shawn Jordan at Bellator 18. It was his third straight loss. Williams was originally scheduled to face unbeaten Daniel Almeida.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, has won 11 straight fights dating back to July 2009. The former UFC champion's record now stands at 46-11.
