Jack Wilshere Urges Cesc Fabregas to Stay at Arsenal

Arsenal's Jack WilshereJack Wilshere may have been painted in some parts of the media as an incorrigible rogue but his heartfelt plea to Cesc Fabregas only illustrates what an intelligent, erudite man he is becoming.

Wilshere is already establishing a reputation as one of the best young midfielders in Europe and his impassioned message to his Arsenal team-mate was a timely nudge that will surely have had earned the approval of Arsene Wenger.

The departure of Fabregas would only place more responsibility on Wilshere's young shoulders but he insists Arsenal's captain must show he is "a real man" and stay for one more year at the Emirates.

Samir Nasri is also yearning for a move away from the Gunners after growing increasingly frustrated at recent underachievement but the general concensus is that he is replaceable.

Fabregas, however, is the beating heart of Arsenal when he's at his best and Wilshere clearly feels he can improve as a footballer with the £40 million rated midfielder by his side.

Barely a day after Wenger insisted Fabregas was torn between moving back to his beloved Barcelona or staying in North London, Wilshere has weighed in to pile a little more pressure on the Spaniard.

He said: "Loyalty is a big part of football and it shows if you are a real man or not. There have been a few players who have shown Arsenal great loyalty and hopefully we will get a few more like that. Then we will see if we can get a trophy or not.

"If you are loyal, it means you are a real man. We have got loyalty at Arsenal and players have shown that in the past - Cesc showed that last year and hopefully a few more players will show it this year.

"We have got a good team. We know that and we need to keep our big players. If you look at Tottenham, they are fighting to keep Luka Modric.

"It's the same for any team - you have to keep your best players. We have to keep ours if we want to win things. He has been a role model for me and he is the player I want to aspire to. It would be a shame if we lose him, but hopefully we can keep hold of him."

Wilshere has been treated like a demi-god out in Malaysia as Arsenal embark on a PR offensive. These latest comments will only enhance his status with the Arsenal fans - even if Fabregas does decide to leave.
