Davis Cup: Murray Brothers Combine To Put Great Britain In Firm Control

Filed under:

Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, Davis cup, Luxembourg, Braehead arenaAndy Murray and Jamie Murray tasted victory in their first Davis Cup outing together as Great Britain took a 2-1 lead over Luxembourg heading into Sunday's reverse singles matches.

The brothers cruised to a 7-5 6-2 6-0 victory over Mike Vermeer and Laurent Bram in their Europe/Africa Group II clash at Glasgow's Braehead Arena.

For Bram, the scoreline helped restore some pride following his 6-0 6-0 6-0 defeat to World No. 4 Murray on Friday, which had pulled Britain level in the tie.

There was little to choose between the two pairs in the opening set, with a break late on sufficient for the Dunblane duo to take the first set.

Vermeer and Bram failed to offer the same resistance in the next two sets as the Brits quickly wrapped up the next two sets to hand them the advantage going into day three.
