Man City v Tottenham Preview: Gareth Bale Misses Out as Spurs Seek 'Miracle'

PREMIER LEAGUE: EASTLANDS, TUESDAY MAY 10, 2011. KICK-OFF: 1945 BST

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was soaked by a bucket of ice at the final whistle of this fixture a year ago after his team had secured a place in the top four of the Premier League at Manchester City's expense.

Spurs had defeated Arsenal and Chelsea before travelling to Eastlands where Peter Crouch's winner paved the way for meetings with Inter Milan, AC Milan and Real Madrid in this season's Champions League.

Plenty has happened since Crouch's winner and Redknapp's soaking, not least to David Bentley who threw the ice over his manager and subsequently found himself sidelined before being farmed out to Birmingham on loan.

City have spent more than £100 million on the transfer market to get into the top four this season and it looks as though they have made it - they are six points ahead of Spurs who lie fifth with three games left to play.

Tottenham have seen the season catch up with them after their effort in Europe's elite competition and recently they have drawn games they should have won.

City, meanwhile, have the FA Cup final to prepare for but the real aim for them is to play in the Champions League this season, so the fixture against Spurs is a cup final of sorts.

Key Match-up: David Silva v Sandro: Silva has impressed in this season and in recent weeks has been the creative force for City. He will be looking to get on the ball in midfield and carry his team forward. Sandro has been given his chance following injury to Tom Huddlestone. He breaks up play well and also scored an excellent goal against Chelsea.

Form Guide: Spurs have been patchy since their famous Champions League win over AC Milan. City have hardly shown the consistency they want - Roberto Mancini's team lost to Everton at the weekend - but they have done enough to stay above their top-four rivals.

Odds: Manchester City 10/11, Tottenham 3/1, Draw 12/5
