Novak Djokovic cruised into the second round of the French Open with a straight sets victory over Thiemo de Bakker as he maintained his unbeaten run in 2011 with his 38th win in succession.The Serb world No.2 never looked troubled as he recorded a 6-2 6-1 6-3 triumph over the Dutchman to continue his remarkable start to the season.
World No. 3 and former Roland Garros champion Roger Federer defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3).
Elsewhere, there was disappointment for Britain's Anne Keothavong when she blew a set lead to lose 3-6 7-6 6-4 to Vesna Dolonts of Russia.
Women's champion Francesca Schiavone kicked off the defence of her title with a routine 6-2 6-0 victory over American Melanie Oudin.
Vera Zvonareva, the third seed, progressed with a 6-3 6-3 triumph over Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain. World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is in action later on Monday.
