French Open: Novak Djokovic Cruises to His 38th Successive Win

Novak Djokovic cruised into the second round of the French Open with a straight sets victory over Thiemo de Bakker as he maintained his unbeaten run in 2011 with his 38th win in succession.

The Serb world No.2 never looked troubled as he recorded a 6-2 6-1 6-3 triumph over the Dutchman to continue his remarkable start to the season.

World No. 3 and former Roland Garros champion Roger Federer defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3).

Elsewhere, there was disappointment for Britain's Anne Keothavong when she blew a set lead to lose 3-6 7-6 6-4 to Vesna Dolonts of Russia.

Women's champion Francesca Schiavone kicked off the defence of her title with a routine 6-2 6-0 victory over American Melanie Oudin.

Vera Zvonareva, the third seed, progressed with a 6-3 6-3 triumph over Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain. World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is in action later on Monday.
