Managerless Chelsea Still Planning for Future with Double Raid on Belgium

Romelu LukakuCarlo Ancelotti may have become the latest manager to suffer at the hands of Roman Abramovich but it appears nothing will deter the Russian oligarch from further lavish spending.

Even without a manager, Chelsea are supposedly planning for the future with the Daily Mirror reporting that two of the hottest properties out of Belgium are heading for Stamford Bridge.

The Mirror claims Anderlecht's Romelu Lukaku is set for a £22 million switch, with Genk winger Kevin De Bruyne also arriving for around £12 million.

Lukaku only turned 18 earlier this month and made his senior Belgium debut last year but Anderlecht are already quoting astronominal prices for the striker.

The report also suggests that he has revealed himself to be a Chelsea fan on his Twitter account and is keen to move to the capital despite interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.

De Bruyne is a veteran in comparison at the age of 19 and is already revered in Belgium as "the new Steven Defour", a sign of how highly he is regarded.

Chelsea plan to sign the attacking midfielder and then loan him back to Anderlecht.

The moves are another sign of how Abramovich is prepared to rip it up and start again as he bids to achieve the Holy Grail of the Premier League and Champions League in the same season.

It seems likely there will be many departures from Chelsea this summer, however, with the Independent reporting that a string of players will be offloaded as Abramovich seeks to recoup some of his vast fortune.

Yuri Zhirkov, Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira and Henrique Hilario are seen as expendable while younger players including Jack Cork - who has been with the club since the age of nine but never made a first-team appearance - and Gael Kakuta will also be allowed to leave.

The summer rebuilding program will be led by Ron Gourlay, Chelsea's chief executive, who is now emerging as a pivotal figure in Abramovich's Stamford Bridge army.
