Mikele Leigertwood's decision to sign permanently for Reading is further evidence of a club going in the right direction. The 28-year-old, on loan at the Madejski Stadium for the bulk of the season, was scheduled to return to QPR at the end of the campaign but has chosen to stay.
When the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee, described by Reading as "substantial", the midfielder had no hesitation in signing, allowing him to concentrate fully on the Championship play-off final against Swansea.
"I just had to settle personal terms, but I'm pleased that's done now really," he said. "It just makes things a little bit easier, doesn't it? I can focus more on the game now."
After an impressive season, Leigertwood would have been in contention for a starting place at Loftus Road following their promotion to the top flight.
He may not have been in Neil Warnock's plans over the last year but anything could happen between now and the start of the Premier League season - injuries or personnel departing.
But Leigertwood chose to stay at Reading, agreeing a three-year contract, with his first game as a permanent player coming with a Premier League place at stake at Wembley.
