If he wants another couple of f-words to add to his limited vocabulary, how about fantastic and fabulous, for that's what he was after bowling us all over at the Boleyn Ground.
If the quest for the title inspires certain players to great things, the same can be said for those bidding to help their clubs avoid relegation. Step forward Ben Foster, whose heroics in goal for Birmingham City played a major role in their 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers.
Not only did Foster ensure City claimed a degree of revenge for their sixth round FA Cup defeat to their Premier League rivals last month, more importantly it saw them climb out of the bottom three as we approach the business end of the campaign, a stunning individual display Wanderers manager Owen Coyle was magnanimous enough to describe as produced by an England regular of the future.
Foster is joined in the week's outstanding line-up by Blues team-mate Roger Johnson, who excelled at centre-back in helping to shackle the ever-dangerous Kevin Davies, and was also only denied an appearance on the scoresheet by the excellence of Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Having gained the sweetest of his revenge for his utterly shabby treatment by Liverpool, Roy Hodgson would no doubt give all his West Brom players a maximum ten for their battling 2-1 victory over the Reds which a well as denting Kenny Dalglish's hopes of guiding the Anfield club back into Europe, appreciably helped the Baggies' survival bid at the bottom.
As it was, two Albion players make the grade this week, Peter Odemwingie just missing out to the two-goal Aston Villa forward Darren Bent in joining Rooney up front - the pair pushed hard by Fulham's Bobby Zamora and Moussa Dembele, in addition to Chelsea's Didier Drogba.
Albion's grossly under-rated Youssouf Mulumbu, however, takes his place in midfield, and Nicky Shorey narrowly edges out Manchester United's stand-in left back, Ryan Giggs.
Chris Baird's stunning goal-line clearance to deny Brett Ormerod in the 3-0 victory over Blackpool helped earn the Fulham defender the right-back slot, while Christopher Samba's heroics in ensuring Blackburn returned with a point from a stalemate at the Emirates Stadium that all but snuffed out Arsenal's title hopes was also good enough to see the big centre-half included.
Joey Barton, instrumental in the 4-1 victory over Wolves that, barring a miracle, secures Newcastle's top flight future makes up the honoured XI this week, slotting in down the right flank with Johnson on the left, even though we acknowledge the returning City midfielder did most of his damage down the right.
