Rafael Nadal picked up his sixth successive Barcelona Open title after he defeated Spanish compatriot David Ferrer in a final for the second time in a week.Having beaten Ferrer in the final of the Monte Carlo Masters last Sunday, the world No. 1 further enhanced his reputation as the king of clay with a 6-2 6-4 triumph.
It was a 501st ATP career victory for the 24-year-old, who will once again be the man to beat at next month's French Open.
Nadal broke for the first time in game three with a stunning forehand up the line and he repeated the feat again in Ferrer's following service game when the second seed was unable to control another fine forehand.
The pair exchanged breaks of serve in the next two games but it was the top seed who wrapped up the set when Ferrer sent a backhand wide.
