Masters Round Two: Rory McIlroy Still Leads, but Jason Day Closes In

Rory McIlroy heads into Saturday with a two-shot lead at the Masters, but has Jason Day breathing down his neck after the Australian shot a 64 on Friday, while Tiger Woods is also looming large after moving within three shots of the lead.

Woods pulled his game together to shoot six under to move within three shots of the lead and he is sure to have a big part to play over the weekend at Augusta National.

McIlroy and Day will play alongside each other for a third day after the Australian, playing in his first Masters, tore through the field with a wonderful round of eight under par, going one better than McIlroy's effort on Thursday.

Leaderboard

The Northern Irishman, 21, was largely untroubled by his two closest challengers on the opening day, with K.J.Choi and Alvaro Quiros shooting respective rounds of 70 and 73.

McIlroy had picked up three shots by the turn and picked up a birdie on 13 after suffering his first bogey of the tournament on the previous hole.
