Brighton Face A Turbulent Summer After Winning Promotion Into Championship

Brighton v Dagenham & Redbridge, League One, Withdean Stadium, Brighton, April 12, 2011It's hearty congratulations to Brighton, the first Football League club this season to enjoy a spot of upward mobility, as they deservedly look forward to ending a five-year exile from the Championship after securing promotion from League One.

After neighbours Crawley's elevation to League Two from the Conference at the weekend, they clearly like to get on with things down in Sussex.

With Gus Poyet's side 16 points clear of Southampton and Huddersfield and on the verge of clinching the title with a win at Walsall after sealing promotion with a stirring 4-3 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge, FanHouse takes a look at the six key ingredients needed to to ensure they prosper back at a higher level in their ultimate aim of returning to the top flight they last graced way back in 1983.

Sorry to report for the Albion faithful, that with predators circling for some of their stand-out performers this season, and Poyet certain to be linked with other jobs, it could be a turbulent summer before they even kick a ball in anger back in the Championship in August. But as all those with the club close to their hearts know, Brighton never like to do things the easy way.
Hold on to Poyet
Even before his stunning success this season, the Uruguayan has always been ear-marked as a potential Premier League manager. There will be some rather large clubs on the search for a new manager this season - West Ham, perhaps - while the Newcastle hierarchy have always been admirers. Brighton fans will no doubt hope Poyet will stay to try and finish the job he's started so impressively. His assertion that he wants to remain on the South Coast for 'many years' certainly will be music to their ears, although he added: "I'm sure there are going to be some rumours but I'm not bothered about that. It's very difficult and unfair to say I'm going nowhere and then you go and you look stupid. It would have to be something very unique, something very special. I assume the club would understand but there is absolutely nothing at all at the moment.
