Lee Westwood underlined his place at the top of the world rankings by charging to a second straight victory with victory at the Ballantine's Challenge in South Korea.Westwood returned to the world No. 1 slot with victory at the Indonesia Open last week and followed that up with an impressive showing to blow the field away.
Just three days after picking up his first win of the year, he was back at it on Thursday and although he started with a 72, he came good when it really mattered.
After a 68 and a 69, he set the pace with a blistering round of 67 on Sunday, picking up birdies on 14, 15 and then 18 to heap the pressure on the rest of the field.
Veteran Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez led for much of the final round but after the turn, he produced eight straight pars and failed to drop a putt for a birdie on the last to force a play-off.
Westwood, 38, had only needed a top-five finish to guarantee he will spend the week at the top of the world rankings but demonstrated his solid consistency with a second victory in seven days.
He admits he enjoyed watching the tournament unfold after taking his lead into the clubhouse and feels his game is clicking at the right time.
Westwood's previous stint at the top of the world rankings was met with an underwhelming run of form but he thinks he is mature enough to cope with the pressure.
