Why This Summer May Be the Most Testing of Arsene Wenger's Career at Arsenal

Arsene WengerNo matter how much manager Arsene Wenger tries to gloss over Arsenal's failed attempt to win a trophy last season, the fact remains they underachieved once again.

The Frenchman's reluctance to spend last summer came back to haunt him as Arsenal's squad was left exposed in defence and, perhaps more crucially, in goal.

After achieving success in his early years with Arsenal, the tide of support for Wenger appears to be on the turn. Fans are becoming frustrated at seeing them surrender the title race to Chelsea and Manchester United.

For successive years, the end of season lap of honour has been conducted in front of a few thousand fans, with the others quick to head for the door at the Emirates and forget about another season that might have been.
