Memories are Made of Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Shot to Win the World Cup

MS DhoniAs the dust settles on the World Cup, it is now time to reflect on the tournament and where it went right and wrong. The format of the competition has come in for criticism but there have been moments that have captured the imagination, particularly in the latter stages. Here FanHouse UK looks at five memorable moments that brought life to the World Cup:

1 Mahendra Singh Dhoni seals trophy in style:
There was no better way to secure victory in the showpiece of the tournament, in Mumbai. There was plenty of time to strike the winning runs but Dhoni, India's victorious captain, smashed a huge six to get the party started. It edges out Virat Kohli's catch that wrapped up a momentous victory against Pakistan in the semi-finals.

2 Muttiah Muralitharan says farewell with a wicket:
Murali could not have scripted it better. In Sri Lanka's semi-final in Colombo, the legendary off-spinner was playing his last international on home soil and he took a wicket with the final ball of his 10-over spell. New Zealand batsman Scott Styris was his victim, adjudged lbw. It turned out to be Murali's final international wicket as he failed to make a breakthrough in the final.
