The Masters: Five Key Holes That Will Decide the Outcome at Augusta

The Masters starts this week at Augusta where Phil Mickelson will look to retain his title while Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods and Martin Kaymer are all hoping to get their hands on the green jacket. Here FanHouse looks at five key holes that could decide the winner.

No.4 Flowering Crabapple, Par 3, 240 yards:
The players will not be fooled by the short length of this par 3 for it is often one of the toughest holes on the course. On the Sunday last year, the pin was tucked behind the right-side bunker making it extremely difficult. It gave away no eagles or birdies in the fourth round and claimed 19 bogeys. The historical average of this hole is 3.29, making it the first threat to halt any progress made from the opening three holes.

No.10 Camelia, Par 4, 495 yards:
Historically the toughest hole on the course with an average score of 4.32. In 2010, the 10th hole only conceded 24 birdies all week. It is vital players hit an accurate tee shot down the left to open up the green up for the second blow. The sculptured bunkers also feature prominently at the front of the green and can be difficult to escape.

No.11 White Dogwood, Par 4, 505 yards:
The beginning of Amen Corner is becoming the site of a few prayers in itself. This monstrous par 4 has been rolled out to over 500 yards - some 100 more than when it was first constructed. The undulating hole suits players who can fade the ball from the tee while the green is protected by water and a bunker. The results from previous competitions have this ranked as the third hardest hole on the course.
