Former West Ham star Paulo Di Canio made a winning start to his managerial career with Swindon Town.Goals from Callum Kennedy, Oliver Risser and Adan Flin earned the relegated side a 3-0 home win over Crewe.
It means nothing at this stage of the season, but the goal ensured that Swindon ended their first day back in League Two in top spot.
Bristol Rovers, who also went down last May, were also among the opening day winners.
A late penalty by Mark Virgo sealed a 3-2 win at newly-promoted AFC Wimbledon, with new strikers Matt Harrold and Scott McGleish also on target.
Crawley Town, the other team that came up from the Conference, battled to a 2-2 draw at Port Vale.
Crawley looked to be heading for victory before Louis Dodds equalised in stoppage time.
Tyrone Barnett made a piece of history when he scored Crawley's first-ever goal in league football.
