Oliver Fisher won his first European Tour event after his final round of 69 clinched the title at the Czech Open.It marks a dramatic turnaround in fortunes for the Englishman, who has endured a difficult year.
Fisher was in danger of losing his tour card after he missed 20 cuts in his first 21 tournaments, but his 13-under-par win at the Propser Golf Resort makes up for his earlier failures.
He told the European Tour's website: "Getting your first win is special, but especially as I've struggled so far this season. My form has been horrific.
"I really enjoyed it out there and I've had a lot of fun this week. I did a lot of good work back home in the two weeks before this event, and it's paid off. Hopefully this is the start of big things for me."
Fisher finished two shots ahead of Sweden's Mikael Lundberg, who has also struggled with his game in recent years.
Last season he lost his card and has been playing on the Challenge Tour but this second place should be enough to secure his playing privileges for next year.
He added: "After the season I've had, I'm delighted. At the start of the week all I was thinking about was just trying to make the cut and maybe finish in the top 20.
"This was way above my expectations. Oli played great, so he deserved to win. I've won before, so maybe it was his turn this week."
