Wales 28 Argentina 13: James Hook Shines As Welsh Claim Impressive Win

Wales, Argentina, Cardiff, rugby union, international, August 20, 2011Wales stormed back from a dreadful start to claim victory against a passionate Argentina side in their final warm-up game before the World Cup in September.

Thirteen points from the boot of the impressive James Hook and three well-worked tries ensured back-to-back wins for the Welsh after last week's morale-boosting defeat of England.

Despite dominating the first half, Argentina went in behind at the break after conceding two quick-fire tries.

Andy Powell staked his claim for a place in the side to face South Africa in Wales' World Cup opener with a clinical finish in the 37th minute following good work by scrum-half Tavis Knoyle.

Alun Wyn Jones dived over just a minute later after a silky run by wing George North.

Wales, who name their World Cup squad on Monday, took control in the second half. George North dived over for another try and Hook continued to excel at fly-half.

Argentina, who have played little test rugby this year, continued to fight and scored a consolation try, but did not have enough in the tank to overcome the Welsh onslaught.

Felipe Contepomi struggled with the boot and the Latin Americans did not make enough of full back Martin Rodriguez's midfield breaks.

Wales, meanwhile, will fly to New Zealand quietly confident after a convincing second-half performance.

MOVE OF THE MATCH:
Alun Wyn Jones' excellent try was a sucker punch for Argentina. Tavis Knoyle showed his skill to release George North down the left. The winger then sprinted 50 yards before offloading to Wyn Jones for a simple finish.
