Within a couple of hours of booking an FA Cup last four spot against Manchester United, City were emailing supporters a list of Wembley souvenirs ahead of the first semi-final between the two clubs in the competition since 1926.
Yet while plans by City's fans for next month's mass exodus south are already well underway, the hard work is only just beginning for Roberto Mancini.
Somehow and someway, Mancini must draw up his own plans to defeat their neighbours - something City have done just once in six attempts under the Italian - and deliver silverware, the only currency the club's Abu Dhabi owners understand.
It was on this day in 2004 that City thumped United 4-1 in the Premier League with Robbie Fowler, Jon Macken, Trevor Sinclair and Shaun Wright-Phillips scoring.
Since then the two clubs have met on 16 occasions, City winning just four times. Even in his reasonably short tenure in charge, Mancini can recount a string of near misses at the hands of Sir Alex Ferguson.
As recently as last month his side would have left Old Trafford with a point but for Wayne Rooney's remarkable overhead kick winner.
