Arsene Wenger has endured the month from hell and it looks like getting worse before the end of the season. It is less than four weeks ago since Arsenal had a Carling Cup final to look forward to against a Birmingham team they would fancy beating nine times out of 10.
They had also come back from the dead against Barcelona to give themselves hope in the Champions League and Wenger's side were still in the FA Cup.
A calamitous error at Wembley and a shot-less performance at the Nou Camp later, and Arsenal have just the Premier League championship in their sights.
If Arsenal's campaign follows the pattern of their recent seasons, they will be empty-handed again and Wenger will trot out the same excuses: he sticks to his principles when it comes to style of football and spending money.
The famous banner reads "Arsene Knows" but the only thing he has done well recently is leading a team to be gallant but ungracious losers. Experts in coming second.

And why should he not face the same pressure as the other managers in the Premier League? Chris Hughton arguably exceeded expectations at Newcastle and still got the sack. Wenger has not been hitting his silverware targets.
When it comes to this season's title, Manchester United have left the door open slightly, but there is little to suggest their nearest title rivals can take advantage, given their recent form.
The difference is just five points, and Arsenal have a game in hand, but the psychological damage has been done already.
If they finally end their trophy drought, the Gunners will have done it through a lack of serious competition, as they have not played like champions at all.
The likelihood is that sometime between now and May, there will be talk of seven years without a trophy, rather than six, with Wenger's critics taking delight in adding another season to his potless tally.
