Fabio Capello looks like the late Tommy Cooper. But just as we thought we could put his tendency to act like the error-prone comedian behind us, out comes Steven Gerrard with a gem that puts the England manager right back in the spotlight - just like that.Gerrard and Liverpool team mate Jamie Carragher were guests on Goals on Sunday, on Sky Sports. For those unfamiliar to the show, it is usually a chummy chat between hosts Ben Shephard and Chris Kamara with a current player or manager, interspersed with highlights of Saturday's action.
This time around the talk was predictably centred on England's 2-0 Euro 2012 qualifying win over Wales.
But it got a little more interesting than the normal "for me, he is the best in the Premier League" lines of discussion, after Shephard asked Gerrard what he thought of the England manager's lack of communication among his players following his decision to reinstate John Terry as captain.
"I did actually get a call," Gerrard said, to raised eyebrows from both co-hosts. "The manager spoke to me. He spoke to me and just explained what he'd been doing - he didn't have to. The manager's paid to make big decisions and he's made the decision and I think we all have to respect it and move on."
