Steve Williams had his say on his sacking by Tiger Woods two weeks ago so it was a shame that his obvious dig at his former employer overshadowed Adam Scott's victory in the Bridgestone Invitational. That is not to say that the ongoing spat between Williams and Woods has not been fun to watch.
But how many times has a victorious player - Australian Scott won by four shots by the way - been interviewed before his caddy is also hurriedly pushed in front of the camera?
Of course it says much about how much we have been lapping the story up.
Williams might have declined, in order for Scott to get his time in the limelight, but no.
"I have been caddying for more than 30 years now. I have won 145 times and that is the best win of my life," Williams said, pointedly.
"A lot has been said this week and it is great to back it up. I back myself as a frontrunner as a caddie and I have won again."
Woods had hoped to put the issue to bed on his return to action last week, saying the right things and claiming that he had told Williams of his decision face to face.
That was refuted by the New Zealander but by that time Woods was on his way home after tying in 37th place, ironically banking £35,000, while Williams' cut of Scott's winnings worked out at just under £110,000.
The latest chapter of the furore was lapped up on Twitter with JasonSobelGC summing the mood up with: "I don't know why Adam Scott is getting so much credit for this victory. All he did was walk next to Steve Williams and swing clubs all week."
He did swing the clubs pretty well though. Scott led after a first round score of 62, followed up by a 70 and a 66 and going into the final day with a lead, he never gave the chasing pack much encouragement on the way to a 65.
