Montreal Masters: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Continues Winning Run Against Roger Federer

Roger FedererJo-Wilfried Tsonga became the latest big name to exit the Montreal Masters after the world No. 3 slumped to another defeat to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The Frenchman got the better of world No. 3 Federer at Wimbledon earlier and he did so again in the last 16 of the Rogers Cup tournament, winning 7-6 (3) 4-6 6-1.

Tsonga will now meet Spain's Nicolas Almagro, who defeated Richard Gasquet, in the quarter-finals.

In the same half of the draw, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic gained win number 50 of the campaign after defeating Marin Cilic 7-5 6-2.

He will now meet French fifth seed Gael Monfils, who emerged victorious from two tie-breaks to overcome edge out Viktor Troicki 3-6 7-6 (0) 7-6 (5).

Seventh seed Tomas Berdych defeated Ivo Karlovic 6-3 7-6 (2) to book a date with Janko Tipsarevic, who beat Nadal's conqueror Ivan Dodig 6-1 6-4.

Stanislas Wawrinka, the 14th seed, beat Andy Murray's conqueror Kevin Anderson 6-4 4-6 6-4 to set up a showdown with America's Mardy Fish, who defeated Ernests Gulbis.

Murray and his brother Jamie Murray reached the quarter-finals of the doubles with a 6-2 2-6 10-8 win over Eric Butorac and Jean-Julien Rojer.
