Australia captain Ricky Ponting is to be charged by the ICC for his alleged TV smashing incident following his dismissal against Zimbabwe in their World Cup opener on Monday.Ponting was run out for 28 and was clearly fuming as he left the field and it is alleged that he threw his batting gloves at a television screen which subsequently cracked.
A spokesman for the Gujarat Cricket Association, which controls cricket at the Admedabad venue, confirmed that they had forwarded their complaints to the ICC, who have now decided to take action.
"When Ponting was run out, he was perhaps frustrated. He threw his gloves straight at the TV," Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Rajesh Patel said.
"It was an LCD TV, which was properly damaged. We could not view anything so I had to replace it immediately. We have photos of the incident and we have informed the BCCI. An Australian team captain should not behave in this manner."
An ICC spokesman confirmed that Ponting is in hot water, adding: "We received a report about the incident and have taken the decision to charge him."
"We need to talk to him... because we don't know what he's going to say to it yet"
Shahid Afridi leads Pakistan to impressive Kenyan rout:
Pakistan one day captain Afridi took 5-16 against a woeful Kenyan outfit as Pakistan made it look all too easy in their Group A encounter with the African side.
Pakistan posted a total of 317-7 after some terrible Kenyan bowling allowed Umar Akmal to smash 71 while Misbah, Kamran Akmal and Younis Khan all helped with half centuries off their own.

And Kenya were all out in the blink of an eye for 112 as Afridi did most of the damage with a wonderful eight over spell while Umar Gul also picked up two wickets himself.

Dwayne Bravo is super confident about West Indies success:
The West Indies vice-captain is more than happy with the squad for the World Cup and is backing the West Indies to come good in the tournament. They may not be the cricketing force they once were but that has not stopped Bravo from talking of success on the sub-continent.
He said: "I have no doubt in my mind we are going to qualify for the second round and then obviously, take it from there. It's an open tournament and both groups have teams who can spring surprises and that's what the World Cup wants - one of the big teams being surprised by one of the under-rated teams."
Irish eyes not smiling at the prospect of World Cup omission:
Irish cricketer Ed Joyce is dismayed at the idea that Ireland may not even be allowed to take part in the next edition of the World Cup in 2015.
The ICC have confirmed that they wish to reduce the competition numbers from 14 countries to 10 for the next World Cup and that means Ireland are one of the teams up for the chop. Joyce said: "Obviously we have made great strides since the 2007 World Cup where the boys performed so well in the West Indies. We beat Pakistan and Bangladesh and tied with Zimbabwe and got through to the Super Eights.
"We then performed well in the last Twenty20 World Cup so we believe as a cricketing nation we are on the way up and obviously it would be a blow not to be able to be involved in future World Cups."
