Andy Murray must use his last match of 2010 as a springboard in his quest for that elusive Grand Slam title as the British No. 1 gears up for his first match of 2011.The world No. 4 begins his season on Monday against Potito Starace of Italy in the Hopman Cup in Perth, which will see him and Laura Robson team up once again to fly the flag for Britain in the mixed team event.
It will mark the start of Murray's competitive preparations for this month's Australian Open at the end of break which followed his last match against Rafael Nadal in November.
Now Murray is eager to go one better at Melbourne Park after reaching last year's final only to lose to Roger Federer.
"Last year's Australian Open was one of the best events I've played in my life," said the Scot, who faces Nicolas Mahut of France and John Isner of the USA in his other round-robin matches.
"I played some of my best tennis so I'll have to play even better if I want to win because Rafa and Roger are playing so well just now."
Murray has always been a match for the Spaniard and Swiss heavyweights from the back of the court but, by his own admission, he concedes there are areas he is yet to match the world's top two players in.
