Andy Roddick's 17 Aces Blasts Jan Hajek

MELBOURNE, Australia - Andy Roddick, seeking to end a seven-year Grand Slam drought since winning the 2003 U.S. Open, has defeated Jan Hajek 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 at the Australian Open.

Compared with his American Davis Cup teammates Sam Querrey, who lost in five sets, and Mardy Fish, who won in five, Roddick had an easy time advancing Monday, blasting 17 aces.

The 28-year-old Roddick has reached the semifinals four times at the Australian Open, but never advanced to the final. He has lost three Wimbledon finals and the 2006 U.S. Open final and has not finished a year outside the top 10 since 2002
