US Open: Bad Weather Frustrates Andy Murray Again at Flushing Meadows

Andy Murray checks for rain at the US OpenAndy Murray was able to complete just three games of his long-awaited fourth round match with Donald Young before some decidedly Scottish-style weather put it back on hold.

That left the bottom half of the draw still lagging badly behind the top half and the chances of the men's final being played on Sunday appear to be slim to non-existent now.

Intensive mopping up operations had allowed play to start at 5.30pm BST but it wasn't long before the superstars were back in the locker room.

Young had made Murray wait even longer by delaying his entry to the Grandstand court, which some may have viewed as a tad unsporting.
The Scot certainly looked grumpy, but then again that's his default setting so it was difficult to tell.

This was the first time Young had made it to the last 16 of a Grand Slam tournament, and he had knocked out the number 14 seed Stanislas Wawrinka in round two.

And of course the American had pulled off a shock earlier in the year by defeating Murray in straight sets at Indian Wells.

Young saved an early break point with an ace but once again the heavens opened as umbrellas popped up across Flushing Meadows and play was stopped with the American leading 2-1.

World number two Rafael Nadal was already in a spot of difficulty over on Arthur Ashe against Gilles Muller of Luxembourg, who won the first three games before play was halted.

Nadal, who sensationally collapsed with cramp during the press conference at the end of his previous match, had only been given a few minutes notice that play was about to start and certainly did not look happy to be out there.

Andy Roddick, the number 21 seed, raced to a 3-1 lead over Spain's number five seed David Ferrer over on Louis Armstrong.
