Juan Martin del Potro Earns Comeback Win at Sydney International

Juan Martin del Potro won his first tour match since last January on Monday, saving match point and defeating sixth-seeded Feliciano Lopez 6-7 (5), 7-6 (9), 7-6 (3) in three hours and 20 minutes in Sydney.

After playing in last year's Australian Open, the 2009 U.S. Open champion underwent right wrist surgery last May and was then sidelined for the majority of the season.

The hard-hitting Argentine returned to the tour in September, but lost his opening matches in both tournaments he played in at Bangkok and Tokyo. Lopez defeated del Potro 6-3, 6-0 last October in Tokyo.
