Steven Caulker scored a dramatic injury time equaliser to earn Bristol City a point against the Championship leaders at Loftus Road. The on-loan Tottenham defender was being watched by his parent club's manager Harry Redknapp and would have done his reputation a power of good as he headed home from Jamal Campbell-Ryce's corner.
League leaders QPR had looked in control of this match and thought they had made the breakthrough in the 18th minute when Jamie Mackie slotted past David James, but his celebrations were cut short as he saw his effort chalked off for offside.
Former England keeper James then pulled off an excellent point-blank save to deny Rob Hulse as Rangers grew frustrated.
Rangers paid the price for failing to open the scoring when Brett Pitman gave City a totally undeserved lead in the 50th minute. Clint Hill's backwards header was poor and Pitman took full advantage as he raced through and swept the ball past Paddy Kenny.
Rangers pulled a goal back three minutes later the impressive Abel Taarabt teed up Alejandro Faurlin and the Argentinean midfielder stroked the ball past James.
The home side were awarded an 85th minute penalty when Marvin Elliott fouled Hulse in the box. Taarabt dispatched the kick past James to seemingly put QPR on their way to a deserved three points, but there was still time for another twist in this match as Caulker netted a late equaliser.
